Are Promotional Products Necessary?

Are promotional products necessary? Well, in a word - NO!

Fun, creative and buzz-generating with the potential to help you grow your business? ABSOLUTELY!

The right promotional product campaign can bring excitement to your marketing campaigns and events, and used the right way, they can help grow your business.

Critical Elements for B2B Branding

B2B Branding is not just about your company logo, slogan and graphic design of your marketing materials. A consistent look and feel is very important; however, perhaps even more important are your company's vision, values and messaging about your products and services. These ideas must be well thought out and consistently delivered across every single thing you do, from marketing materials to social media, from internal communications to sales presentations and proposals. Every employee needs to know what your message is and to deliver it consistently in every customer interaction.

Remarkable Social Media Marketing

Last week, promotional product supplier IClick blew me away with their social media marketing. I told the story to Jen Phillips April, and being the Philly Social Media Maven, she had to post it immediately. Thanks Jen :). More from me below her post...

Dana Baedke of Key Marketing & Promotions recently shared a story with me that illustrates how one business is setting itself apart through it’s use of social media. Dana sells 1000’s of promotional products—pens, notepads and the like. She works with dozens of vendors to fulfill her clients’ needs.

Recently, she “liked” a vendor’s business page on FB because she felt they were offering valuable information in their updates.

Here’s where her story surprised and delighted both of us.

Spend money on fun! Why You SHOULD plan a holiday company party and employee recognition gifts.

Employee Recognition Gifts for Every BudgetI just read an article on Inc.com by Paul Spiegelman that got me thinking about company holiday parties and employee recognition - "Lead Your Own Way: Ten pieces of management conventional wisdom you should ignore, especially in a weak economy." He mentions 10 things you should NOT do in this economy and it all really makes sense to me. What are some of the things you should do?

E-Mail Marketing with Video Increases Click-through Rates by 30%

Today I participated in a great webinar on Engagement Marketing: Using Video and Social Media to Grow Your Business, hosted by two companies that we partner with - Pixability and Constant Contact. I am totally jazzed about video marketing in particular, and the HUGE impact it can have on the clients we serve.

Social Media is Here to Stay

Last Friday I participated in the Social Media Club monthly book club webinar on The NOW Revolution: 7 Shifts to Make Your Business Faster, Smarter and More Social by Jay Baer and Amber Naslund. Jay spoke and he compared the effects of social media on the way we communicate in business to the revolutionary changes brought about by the telephone and the fax machine. In short, social media must be adopted by everyone because consumers will demand it.

Clients in the electronics and semiconductor manufacturing markets that Key Marketing serves are a bit behind the curve in adopting social media plans, which to me spells OPPORTUNITY for the companies willing to get moving now!

The Big Marcom Question

The big marketing communications questionThe fundamental question that should drive all of your marketing efforts is this: Where do your customers – and more importantly your potential customers – go for information when they are seeking the products or services you offer? Over the past four plus years since I started my business I have been surprised over and over again how few small to mid-sized companies are able to do a decent job answering this question. In my previous life as a corporate marketing communications director, I was constantly on a quest to answer this question so I could budget wisely and get the best return for the company's marketing investment.

Kick Ass T-shirt Promo

Kick ass t-shirt promoPromotional products have been a part of my business since the beginning, and I have always preached that when you market with promotional items, you’ve got to keep it relevant and meaningful to your business and your customers. Last week I ran in my first 5K (pulled off 28:57, woohoo!). One of the race sponsors was North Wales Running Company and runners were invited to stop by their store after the race to pick up a free t-shirt. I cannot tell you how ridiculously excited I am to wear this imprinted t-shirt! Not to mention the staff was friendly and seemed truly excited to be handing out the shirts which are imprinted with “ALL KINDS OF FAST” – definitely what I strive to be as a runner! The store also gave each runner a 15% discount coupon attached to their race bib, a great reason to go back and visit the store in the future. I will definitely go back the next time I want to buy new running gear!

Make your next promotion something to celebrate your customer’s success or feed their passion and you’ll have a sure winner!
